Top 3 NIHL Players of Week 11
With another weekend in the books, these three key players stood out from week eleven
1. Kell Beattie
The 20 year-old had a fantastic weekend which saw the Solway Sharks secure 3/4 points. On Saturday he registered an assists in their 5-4 penalty shootout loss to Telford and then on Sunday he not only tied the game up late on, he also scored the overtime winner as well with just 9 seconds left. An important victory which sees the Sharks just 1 point out of a play off spot with three games in hand on Telford.
2. Ivan Björkly Nordstöm
After returning from an injury for the Sheffield Steeldogs it was a great weekend for the 6,5 forward. On Saturday night he scored a big goal to tie it up against Swindon which the Dogs went onto win late on. Then on Sunday he scored twice including the game winner in Telford to defeat the Tigers and secure a four-point weekend. He has also been named in the Steelers team for Wednesday’s game against the Cardiff Devils.
3. Vanya Antonov
With the Berkshire Bees very short benched this weekend, up stepped Vanya Antonov who had two very strong games. On Saturday he scored in a narrow 4-3 loss to the Pitbulls. Then on Sunday he scored two massive goals to take the game to overtime against the table topping MK Lightning. One of the goals being an absolute snipe past Kerlin.
Honourable Mentions:
Tanner Butler scored twice in Pitbulls 4-3 win at home against the Bees. Jordan Marr saved 44/45 shots in Sundays 2-1 overtime win for the Sharks. Corey McEwen also scored twice on Saturdays for the Lightning in their big win against the Knights.
