Max Wigfield signs for the Bristol Pitbulls!
The 25-year-old from Newcastle has spent the past four seasons playing NCAA Division III hockey with Lawrence University and Chatham University. Prior to that, Max made his mark in the USPHL Premier, tallying 90 points in 95 games over three successful seasons.
Max brings a wealth of North American experience, a strong two-way game, and a relentless work ethic to the Pitbulls lineup. Known for his size, physicality, and net-front presence, he’s expected to be a key contributor this season.
Richie Hargreaves commented:
“I’m really excited about bringing Max to the Pound for this season and next. Getting a player of his calibre and size gives us a real presence on the ice. He’s a fantastic skater for his size, strong on the puck, and plays with grit.
Although Max brings a lot to his overall game, one area I felt we needed to improve as a team is having more inside presence—getting to the blue paint to score goals. It’s something we’ve been guilty of not doing enough in the past, and it’s an area where Max excels. He’s a heavy player who will be hard to contain, and that should translate into more goals around the crease—something I was very keen to address this offseason.
With the team we’re building, I strongly believe Max will complement the group perfectly. He’s an interesting character and came across as a great person in our conversations. He’s excited for the challenge and to be returning to England, and we’re just as excited to welcome him to the Pitbulls family.”
