DOPS Outcome: Friday 18th and Sunday 20th October
The Department of Player Safety have adjudicated and reviewed the penalties sent to them by the PINIHL Game Review Panel from game play over the weekend 18th, 19th & 20th October 2024 and confirm:

Hull Seahawks #9 Johnny Corneil

#9 -Johnny Corneil 5 + Game Misconduct Rule 48- Illegal Check to Head assessed at 56:09

Penalty assessed is correct 5 + Game Misconduct Checking to head

Player #9 Chases a puck along the board towards the blue line #43 of Sheffield had gained control of the puck and #9 of Hull Elevates his shoulder and arm and makes contact with the Sheffield player in the Head.

The primary point of contact is into the head of Sheffield #43, this action was both reckless and caused endangerment.  

Player is suspended for 3 games and has 5 penalty points added to his record.

Sheffield Steeldogs #36 Henry Adams

The penalty assessed on Sheffield player #36 for kneeing at 09.26 has been reviewed and has been determined not to be a knee-on-knee check.

The check by Sheffield #36 was a mis-timed hip check, this check was a low hit or “clip”, causing an injury to Telford player #28 for which an injury report has been received.

Rule 44.1 A Player may not deliver a check in a “clipping” manner, nor lower their own body position to deliver a check on or below an opponent’s knees.

Rule 44.3. The Referee, at their discretion, may assess a Major Penalty and an automatic Game Misconduct Penalty if, in their judgment, the Player recklessly endangers their opponent by “clipping” and the player would not be sufficiently sanctioned by imposing a Minor Penalty.

Such assessment of reckless endangerment shall be based on the severity of the infraction, severity of the contact, the degree of violence and the general reprehensibility involved.

For his actions Sheffield player #36 is assessed 5 + game for Clipping causing an injury, this penalty will carry 5 penalty points and in addition as a Tariff 2 offence the player is suspended for 3 games. (2 of these he served over the weekend of 19th & 20th October 2024).
