Recapping week 8 of the NIHL
There were 11 games in action last weekend and here is your mini round up of every game

Friday 1st November:

The weekend started with a bang as the Romford Raiders made a comeback from 2-0 down to win 6-5 in front of a sold out rink for the first time in their history! Ayliffe stared for the Raiders scoring two big goals with Shewfelt also adding a pair. Miller also contributed to three assists. Back to back away losses now for the Lightning.

Saturday 2nd November:

There were many double headers this weekend and we start with the Hull Seahawks who shut out the Peterborough Phantoms 1-0. Johnny Corneil with the winning goal and Dima Zimozdra saving 27 shots on the night. This keep the Seahawks unbeaten at home and another away loss for the Phantoms.

The Solway Sharks produced a dramatic last minute comeback against the Swindon Wildcats as they trailed 2-1 with 7 minutes to go. Alderson got the Sharks level and with just 30 seconds remaining John Dunbar batted one out the air and in the net to hand Solway the first two points of the weekend.

The Sheffield Steeldogs continued their good form as they narrowly beat the Bristol Pitbulls in a shootout after a late Nick Pryce goal sent them to overtime. Pryce had put himself second now in the goal scoring rankings with a hat-trick on Saturday night. Bjorkly Nordstrum scored the winning penalty shot to hand first blood to the Steeldogs.

The MK Lightning got back to winning ways after they defeated the Berkshire Bees 6-1 on home ice which extends their home league unbeaten streak. Jordan Cownie scored a hat-trick and iced his 200th game for the Lightning. Wallace also added three assists on the night.

The final game on the Saturday saw the Leeds Knights narrowly defeat the Tigers in Telford 5-3. The score was tied at three until Matt Barron and Haywood scored two late daggers to hand the two points to the table toppers. Matt Bissonnette added to his points tally scoring twice and assisting another two.

Sunday 3rd November:

The Steeldogs completed a four-point weekend as they narrowly beat the Bristol Pitbulls 4-3 in Sheffield. Defensemen Jonathan Kirk scoring twice on the night including the game winning goal. This win puts Sheffield up to second in the league. Nick Pryce scored another two goals taking his tally to five for the weekend.

The Swindon Wildcats got their revenge on Sunday night as they beat the Sharks 5-3 with Aaron Nell scoring two big goals. Jake Bricknell also had a five point night. The powerplay making the difference in this game with two PPG goals from the Cats.

The Leeds Knights secured another four-point weekend with a 3-2 victory over the Tigers. Matt Haywood grabbing another two goals. The game winner being scored with less than seven minutes to go. Luka scored twice for the Tigers but it wasn’t enough and they will be disappointed to not get any points despite putting up two great fights against the reigning league winners. 

The Peterborough Phantoms produced the comeback of the weekend as they came from 3-0 down to win 5-3. Three goals in the last five minutes to keep their unbeaten streak at home alive. Corneil scored a pair to take his tally to three on the weekend. 

Finally the Romford Raiders got a four-point weekend in dramatic style. Andrew Shewfelt scoring with one second to go to send it to overtime before Shaun Miller scored a penalty shot to win the game for the Raiders. A hat-trick for Miller which puts him up to second in point scoring behind Sobchak.
