Top 3 NIHL players of week eight
1. Andrew Shewfelt
The Romford Raiders secured another big four-point weekend and Andrew Shewfelt was a huge part of that. On Friday night he scored two past the Lightning also adding an assist. And then on Sunday he scored another two including the game tying goal with just one second remaining. The Raiders then went on to win the game. The Canadian now has 30 points in just 13 games for the Raiders.
2. Matt Haywood
The Leeds Knights was clutch in this weekends games against the Telford Tigers. On Saturday night Haywood assisted three goals and also scored the fifth to wrap up two points. Then on Sunday he scored two goals including the game winning goal in a 3-2 win at home against the Tigers. He has created a great partnership with Bissonnette and Barron this season, becoming an unstoppable line for any team.
3. Nick Pryce
Despite the Bristol Pitbulls only picking up one point this weekend in a double header against the Steeldogs they still put up two great games. On Saturday Nick Pryce scored a hattrick including a game tying goal with less than a minute to go to secure the Pitbulls a point in an eventual shootout loss. Then on Sunday Pryce scored another two goals in a tight 4-3 loss away in Sheffield combining to five goals across the weekend. This also puts Pryce up to second in the goal scoring behind Gardiner on 18.
Honourable Mentions:
Matt Bissonnette alongside Haywood picked up 2 goals and 4 assists across the weekend. Dima Zimozdra picked up a 27 save shutout on Saturday in a 1-0 win over the Phantoms. While Shaun Miller scored a hattrick on Sunday with the winning penalty shot against the Bees. Jake Bricknell also had a five point night on Sunday in the Wildcata 5-3 victory against the Sharks.
