Top 3 NIHL Players of Week 9

Top 3 NIHL Players of Week 9
With another weekend in the books, these three key players stood out from week nine!

1. Brad Day

After a tough start to the season, the Telford Tigers have turned things around and secured a four-point weekend against the Berkshire Bees. Brad Day was at the heart of the two wins. On Saturday he saved 26/27 shots to help the Tigers to a 6-1 victory and then Sunday was even better as he kept a 35 save shutout to lead the Tigers to a 2-0 victory! A very impressive weekend from Brad who has hit some very good form.

2. Kieran Brown

The Leeds Knights Captain was on fire as he led his team to another four-point weekend. On Saturday Kieran scored and assisted twice in their 5-2 win away against the Sheffield Steeldogs. Then on Sunday he had his best game of the season scoring four goals in a 5-4 comeback victory where the Knights trailed 3-0. He also assisted the game winning goal taking his total to five goals and 3 assists on the weekend.

3. Luke Ferrera

Our last star of the week is the Captain of the Peterborough Phantoms and he also led his team to a four-point weekend. On Saturday night Luke scored the overtime winning goal to beat the MK Lightning and end their unbeaten home league run. Then on Sunday he scored twice and assisted twice in the Phantoms 6-4 win at home against the Bristol Pitbulls. Ferrara has always stepped up in the big moments for the Phantoms and this weekend was another example of that!

Honourable mentions:

Tanner Butler scored the game winning goal on Saturday night with eight seconds to go against the Solway Sharks. Mack Stewart scored four goals on Sunday night in the Lightning’s 9-5 win against the Seahawks. Aaron Nell scored twice including the overtime winning goal on Saturdays 4-3 victory against the Seahawks. And finally Tigers import David Thomson assisted three goals on Saturday and scored both goals in Sundays 2-0 victory including a through the legs finish!
