NIHL Playoffs Week 2 Preview
Sheffield Steeldogs Vs Romford Raiders
Both teams desperately need the points after losing both games last weekend. The Raiders did grab a point in their overtime loss against the Lightning last Saturday. Sheffield will host the Raiders on the Friday night and if they fail to secure any points in both games, mathematically they will not be able to make Coventry.
MK Lightning Vs Swindon Wildcats
It was positive opening playoff weekends for both teams who secured four points in their matchups. However there will be guaranteed points dropped by the top two in the group. The Lightning will have the home game first on the Saturday and will hope to keep the score down after last weekends chaos. The Wildcats were victorious here last season in the playoff but it is a much improved Lightning team this season who will be looking to make Coventry for the first time in three seasons.
Leeds Knights Vs Hull Seahawks
The league winners started their playoff campaign with a four-point weekend and currently top the group. The Seahawks are on joint points with the Phantoms after splitting games last weekend. It will be a massive battle between the two northern sides with the Seahawks managing to get two victories over the Knights in the regular season. However the Knights will look to wrap up that Coventry spot with two victories this weekend.
Telford Tigers Vs Peterborough Phantoms
The current playoff champions will travel to Telford in what will be a big game for Tom Watkins side who did get a point against the Knights last Saturday but a loss this weekend would put them in a tough spot. Some tough news for the Tigers who announced that Fin Howells will be out with an injury, so we wish Fin all the best with his recovery. All to play for in this group.
