Sam Cooper joins the Leeds Knights!
Cooper arrives in Leeds from league rivals the Sheffield Steeldogs, where he enjoyed a strong 2024–25 campaign. The 20-year-old played in 52 games, contributing 2 goals and 18 assists, totalling 20 points highlighting his steady two-way presence and playmaking abilities from the back end.
Known for his calm decision-making and smart puck movement, Cooper adds depth and composure to the Knights’ defensive ranks. His consistent performances last season earned him a reputation as a dependable, hard-working defenceman capable of logging valuable minutes in all situations.
Leeds Knights Head Coach Ryan Aldridge commented:
"Sam is a big mobile D, has a good first pass and can be effective on the rush. I am excited to work with him and happy he chose to join the Knights.”
Sam Cooper also shared his excitement about joining the Knights:
"I’m really excited to continue to play hockey in Yorkshire, and I have heard so many great things about Leeds and the organisation.
I just want to thank everyone who has helped me along the way and supported my pathway.
I’m so looking forward to meeting the Knights fanbase and am committed to working hard so we add more silverware to an already successful team.”
